Backyard Productions is a movement initiated by food distributor FoodXervices Inc (www.foodxervices.com) to motivate F&B establishments in Singapore to support local produce.
FoodXervices Inc has traditionally steered clear of fresh produce up till 2016, when the company started collaborating with ComCrop – the first rooftop farm in Singapore. The company had always wanted to enter the fresh produce market but knew they needed proper direction. Upon working closely with urban farms, it became evident that more could be done to support local farms, instead of simply relying on food imports. With that, FoodXervices Inc kicked off the establishment of a Fresh Category with strong emphasis on featuring local farms and is today known as Backyard Productions.
Besides driving the change towards making the nation’s food supply more sustainable and improving food security, Backyard Productions is also a new brand that champions home-grown produce to make them more easily available to F&B partners and ultimately towards end consumers asking – “Where does my food come from?”
